Icemen Varsity Starts New Championship Streak!!!

The Rockford Icemem Varsity team started a new streak of State Championships this afternoon with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over BGHG at the United Center.  Jonathan Pirrie started the Icemen scoring in the 3rd period when he tied it up at 1-1.  Then, in the overtime Andy Cropp lifted it over the left shoulder of the BGHW goalie and the celebration was on!!!  The Rockford Icemen Varsity and Junior Varsity now are holding down the State Championship in their respective brackets.  WAY TO GO ICEMEN!!!!

Final Four in Nationals - FIRST in our Hearts!!!!!!

The Icemen run to the Tier II National Championship came to a close tonight with an overtime loss to the Jr Panthers from Florida.  In the first period Montana Bahls knocked in pass from Andy Cropp to open the scoring.  The Panthers came back and scored twice, once on a power play, to take the lead .  Anthony Heaslip tied it up again from a long pass assist from Brett Stewart.  The Panthers got that hated late goal in the period when they put it past Rockford goalie Patrick Koski with three ticks left in the second period to take a 3-2 lead.  The Panthers opened the scoring in the third and took a 4-2 lead.  The Icemen came roaring back with goals by Erik Swanberg (assist by Jon Pirrie) and Montana Bahls (unassisted).  At 7:40 in the third period it was tied 4-4 and that's how it stood at the horn at the end of regulation.  But the Panthers found the back of the net early in the overtime period and the Icemen were knocked out of their first ever appearance in the USA Hockey National Tournament.  Goaltender Patrick Koski started the game in net for the Icemen and had 8 saves while allowing 4 goals, and Brandon Roderick came in in relief and had 9 saves and allowed 1 goal.  The Icemen will be coming home with a top four finish and should be extremely proud of their achievement!!!!!  Wow!  Thank you to Joy de Leon for all the updates to allow me to get the info to all the fans in a timely manner.
